Dr.Ron Dixon is a Microbiologist and Reader at the School of Life sciences, University Of Lincoln, UK. He visited Bengaluru as a delegate in the India-UK trade and investment meeting. He introduced his research work and talked about problems associated with indiscriminate use of antibiotics in the livestock industry and its contribution to development of drug-resistant bacteria which eventually leads to failure of antibiotic therapy in humans.
He visited Gangagen to introduce the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and spoke about the international staff exchange program called the Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) under the MSCA scheme which is funded and administered by the European Commission. RISE program promotes collaborative research between EU member states and associated countries such as India by providing grants for research-focused organizations (universities, research centres, and companies) to host talented foreign researchers and to create strategic partnerships with leading institutions worldwide.
